According to Biden, Carter wanted him to give his eulogy

The president announced that former president Jimmy Carter, who is receiving hospice care in Georgia, had asked Joe Biden to give his eulogy.

According to pool press accounts, President Joe Biden made the revelation Monday night in front of around 40 guests at a DNC fundraiser at a private property in Rancho Santa Fe, California, which is situated about 25 miles north of San Diego.

He stated, “I spent time with Jimmy Carter and it’s finally caught up with him, but they discovered a method to keep him going for a lot longer than they anticipated because they made a breakthrough.

The president seems to have made the announcement before adding, “He requested me to give his eulogy.Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981 and is the oldest living president in history at 98 years old, opted on February 18 to spend his final days in hospice care at his Pains, Georgia, home, according to a statement from his charity, The Carter Foundation.

According to the Carter Foundation, the choice was made after “a string of brief hospital admissions.”

Leanne Smith, the former president’s niece, stated late last month that “he’s still got some time in him.”

Following the news that Carter had entered hospice care on February 23, White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre informed reporters that the two presidents have been close for many years.”It goes back to 1976 when then-Gov. Carter was running for president and then-Sen. Biden was the first senator to have endorsed Jimmy at that time,” she said.
