Bus driver sees boy crying on bus. When he learns why, he acts quickly

A child cried his way onto the school bus on a cold morning in Washington, and the reason for his tears was heartbreaking. Fortunately, the caring bus driver knew exactly what to do to assist the boy. Furthermore, the man’s response inspired him to help others in need as well. That driver was 52-year-old John Lunsford, a US Army veteran who was transporting children to school in Washington for three years when he encountered the crying boy. He’s married to Debbie and the couple has two children.

As usual, John was chauffeuring students around the Kenwick School District. However, it was that morning that he picked up a regular young rider, and the driver may have been alarmed to see the child crying. The six-year-old’s tears were simple, though he felt very cold, which may have been exacerbated by the fact that the boy’s hands and ears were exposed.

As a result, they were noticeably red, so John felt compelled to act to make the child feel much better. Indeed, John couldn’t bear the thought of the boy in pain. He simply desired to make him feel warm to alleviate his pain. According to a report from the Washington newspaper, the Tricity Herald, John stated that he’s a grandfather and nobody wants a child to suffer selflessly. Therefore, John removed his gloves and handed them to the boy.

He also assured the six-year-old that everything would be fine, and while the vet continued to drive his morning route to school, he generously would not end there. In fact, after dropping the kids off at school, John went to the dollar store. There, he would buy items to assist the children on those snowy days in Kenwick, and he did so by purchasing ten pink and black hats and gloves. He then returned to school, where an administrator directed him to the boy in the library. That’s when John handed out the first set of hats and gloves.

He then invited all the young passengers on his bus to help themselves to whatever they required. Then a young girl approached him and revealed that she lacked a hat, to which John replied that he’ll take care of her, and he duly gave her the item of clothing, and the other kids quickly followed to get whatever they didn’t already have.

When inside addition asked John why he thought the boy had gone without warm clothes on such a cold day, and the driver said he wasn’t sure. He suspected, however, that his gloves or hat had simply been left at home by mistake. Regardless of the reason for the child’s lack of headgear, John had done a very good deed, and Kenwick School District wanted the world to know how much the driver cared as it shared his heartwarming story, along with a photo of John himself on its Facebook page.

Following that, the post went viral, receiving over 150 likes and 3000 shares. Their staff members have big hearts, and on Thursday, one bus driver acted when he saw a student in need. According to the Facebook post, when the student boarded John Lunsford’s bus, he was in tears. After waiting for the bus in the freezing temperatures that morning, Lunsford noticed how red the student’s exposed hands and ears were. The post went on to explain that day’s events.

Following that, the school district issued an update, thanking everyone for the overwhelming and positive response to his story and kindly asking them to donate if they want to help more. Kenwick children in need, with items like hats, gloves, coats and shoes invested, is running a program to assist Kenwick students in need and is accepting donations of $5 or more to go directly to the area’s chosen schools. The funds raised will then be used to make a difference in the lives of children, particularly those who lack necessities and opportunities.

Meanwhile, Kennewick School District’s post has received over 10 comments, many of which have praised John for his generosity and thanked him for being such a kind man, wrote one Commenter. What he did for that little boy and what he’ll do for the next generation of children will not be forgotten by them.

The act of love he displayed for them demonstrates that he was the true hero. As Debbie, John’s wife also left a comment in the thread, she wrote that they had no idea how far the story would spread and her husband has always been a philanthropist. Let’s find out together what happened. It was even speculated that child neglect was at work because the six-year-old had gone to school without appropriate weather clothing. Debbie seemed eager to clear up any potential misunderstandings.

However, she responded that the little boy in the story is six years old and had either lost his items or left them at home that day. Kids do not believe that his parents were neglectful and this is not applied in the story. What mattered that day, Debbie added on Facebook, was that the child was cold and that her husband could do something about it. And John’s wife didn’t ignore the outpouring of gratitude for his actions either. Few would argue that John doesn’t deserve the accolades that he’s been heaped upon him.

Indeed, his charitable act serves as a model for others to emulate. As a result of his kind heart, at least one child received much-needed physical warmth.
