Any unlocked phones can now participate in Verizon’s 30-day 5G free trial

Verizon launched Test Drive in beta last November, a 30-day 5G network trial for compatible handsets utilizing the extreme simplicity of an eSIM. Verizon is now extending the Free Trial program to all unlocked (and eSIM-equipped) handsets, rather than just the most recent Galaxy, Pixel, and iPhone models, starting this week.

Starting is the same procedure for everyone. A random phone number with data, text, and talk service for 30 days is given to you by Verizon after you download the My Verizon app and sign up (neither a credit check nor a credit card are needed). The service expires after 30 days unless you choose to convert to a full-time schedule.

Verizon provides 100GB of 5G Ultra Wideband data, unlimited call and text, and a free trial period.

You should have access to enough data to truly spread your legs on the network with that.

I attempted to try this when it initially launched and it was really janky. When I refreshed the app to try again after receiving an error notice during onboarding, it informed me that my 30-day trial period had already expired. Naturally, Verizon’s support was of no assistance and had no idea what I was referring to. Hopefully the problems have been worked out by now.
