Breaking: Major media outlets predict Democrat Mark Kelly will win the Arizona Senate race

Mainstream media outlets, such as CNN, NBC News, and the Associated Press, have called Arizona’s U.S. Senate race for incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly.

With 83% reporting, Kelly leads Republican Blake Masters 51.8% to 46.1%, according to the Associated Press.

From the Associated Press:

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly won his bid for reelection Friday in the crucial swing state of Arizona, defeating Republican venture capitalist Blake Masters to put his party one victory away from clinching control of the chamber for the next two years of Joe Biden’s presidency.

With Vice President Kamala Harris’ tiebreaking vote, Democrats can retain control of the Senate by winning either the Nevada race, which remains too early to call, or next month’s runoff in Georgia. Republicans now must win both those races to take the majority.

The Arizona race is one of a handful of contests that Republicans targeted in their bid to take control of the 50-50 Senate. It was a test of the inroads that Kelly and other Democrats have made in a state once reliably dominated by the GOP. Kelly’s victory suggests Democratic success in Arizona was not an aberration during Donald Trump’s presidency.

Could the mainstream media possibly be getting ahead of themselves with this call?

According to the Associated Press, Masters currently trails Kelly by approximately 124,000 votes.

The ballot drops expected to favor Kari Lake will also likely help Blake Masters.

“We are in a dogfight in Arizona. My race will be very close. It’s going to be decided by a few thousand votes either way but there are hundreds of thousands of ballots outstanding that haven’t been counted,” Masters told Tucker Carlson.

Masters also blasted the GOP establishment and Mitch McConnell’s horrendous leadership in the U.S. Senate.

“McConnell decided to spend millions of dollars attacking a fellow Republican in Alaska instead of helping me defeat Mark Kelly. Had he chosen to spend money in Arizona, this race would be over,” Masters said.

Despite the mainstream media’s projection, Arizona’s election shenanigans will cause this race to come down to the wire.

Expect the Senate race between Kelly and Masters to ultimately be decided by a few thousand votes.
