By scoring 400 goals, Phil Kessel breaks the ironman record for the NHL.

When he started the Golden Knights’ away game against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, Vegas right winger Phil Kessel broke the NHL’s all-time ironman record, and he celebrated by tallying his 400th career goal.

Kessel beat the previous record of 990 straight games played established by Keith Yandle of the Philadelphia Flyers last year.

Kessel scored the game’s first goal against the Sharks at 15:51 of the first period. It was his first goal of the year. The Golden Knights ultimately triumphed 4-2.

Regarding the goal, Kessel remarked, “I was glad to get it. “It was a noteworthy evening. I’m pleased with my victory.”

Kessel had 559 assists in 1,211 NHL games after contributing to Vegas’ 3-1 victory over Toronto on Monday.
