Dell Curry explains the subjects he discusses with his sons Steph and Seth: Unexpectedly, it is not basketball

The father of NBA players Seth and Stephen Curry has talked openly about his connection with his boys and the guidance he often gives them.

Although Dell Curry is immensely happy of what his two sons are now accomplishing, he won’t allow them to take it easy.

According to Dell, who spoke to PEOPLE, “I watch all their games, whether live or on tape, and I try to check in with them every week.”

Seth is a member of the Brooklyn Nets, while Steph represents the reigning champion Golden State Warriors. Both clubs have dropped their opening two playoff contests, but Dell avoids getting too involved when his sides are having trouble.

They are mature adults who have played in the league. You can’t get too high or too low in this league, he continues, because I’ve been around long enough to know that.

Because they “have enough basketball in their ears,” according to Dell, a play-by-play announcer for the Charlotte Hornets, he and his sons “talk about golf and grandkids more than basketball.”

“Knowing what they’re going through as an NBA player and as a fan while also being a dad is fun. When you’re going through a tough period, you sometimes just need to speak about everything but basketball, according to Dell.
