In 2022, Daniel Jones made significant progress, which convinced the Giants to give him a long-term contract deal. With plenty of provisions from New York’s side, Jones agreed to a four-year, $160 million agreement that will bind him to the team for many years.
With the Buffalo Bills, Brian Daboll, the head coach of New York, assisted Josh Allen in realizing his potential. In New York, he aims to accomplish the same with Jones. But getting some weapons for a player worthy of the Pro Bowl is the first step.
Saquon Barkley, who will reunite with his quarterback the next season, is already in the backfield for Jones. The Giants have upgraded their tight end position by trading for Darren Waller, a star with the Las Vegas Raiders.
NY Giants trade grade: B+
New York will expect more from Waller, even though the compensation wasn’t much. The Giants traded away the comp pick they received in the Kadarius Toney deal for Waller.
Considering Waller is one of the better tight ends in football when healthy, this trade is a win for New York. For the Raiders, this looks more like a salary dump, and the compensation is underwhelming.
