Up to 5 family members may enjoy the ad-free YouTube experience with YouTube Premium Family. The subscription includes access to YouTube Music Premium, and users may access additional YouTube services including downloading videos for offline watching.
Only the YouTube Premium Family plans are currently impacted by the price hike. All other plans, including the student and individual plans, continue to be priced as they are at this time. Individual is still offered for $11.99 a month, or a little less if paid yearly.
The YouTube Premium website already has the new fee stated. At the moment, it is only available in a few places. Visitors from the United States will see the new price displayed, but if you check the pricing in a few countries in Europe, including Germany, you will still see the old price, which is currently €17.99.
According to comments on websites like Reddit, not all grandfathered accounts appear to be affected by the price increase. Those who pay $7.99 a month assert that they have not yet received the emails informing them of the price rise.
