The long-awaited Stage Manager is one of the new features included in iPadOS 16.1, which Apple has just published for its tablet computers.
Owners of iPads should receive the update as iPadOS 16.1, although Apple has confusingly announced it as iOS 16 given that this is the first release after the operating system update was postponed so that Stage Manager could be improved. Therefore, this release, which comes a week after Apple introduced the entry-level 10th Gen iPad in 2022 and new M2 iPad Pros, is the first official version of iPadOS 16.
Apps and windows are resized by the new Stage Manager multitasking feature for simple task switching. Users can connect an iPad to an external monitor and switch between apps using a new mechanism that allows for overlapping windows.
