Lit Fibre, a broadband ISP and network builder that is creating a new gigabit-speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to service 500,000 households by 2026, has recruited Openreach’s former CEO, Steve Robertson, as a Non-Executive Director.
The service, which only started rolling out their network last year and is backed by a financial investment from Newlight Partners LP, is now building its network to encompass numerous locations throughout multiple counties in England (e.g. Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Worcestershire, Essex, Suffolk and the Midlands). Parts of 12 communities have already gone online, and more will follow soon.
The good news today is that Lit Fibre has managed to appoint industry expert Steve Robertson as Non-Executive Director. Steve has spent four decades working in the sector, including leading Openreach from its inception in 2005 until 2011.
Steve Robertson said:
“I’m delighted to be able to join Lit Fibre. The business is driven by a focus on quality and innovation. Its culture, values and customer focus resonate strongly with me. Building a high-quality network, supported by the very latest technologies and a community-driven rollout will significantly accelerate the take-up of fibre broadband in the UK. It’s a real honour to join the talented Lit Fibre team at such an exciting phase in their journey. I am looking forward to using my experience to help and support the team as the business scales.”
Tom Williams, CEO and co-founder of Lit Fibre, adds:
“Steve’s appointment is really exciting news and a huge win for Lit Fibre; his industry expertise, incredible experience and energy will be highly valuable to the whole team. We are on track to deploy a rock-solid network to 500,000 homes by 2026. I am delighted to have Steve’s support and welcome his guidance as we continue our mission to enable more communities to connect to gigabit symmetrical speeds, without compromise.”
Residential customers on their full fibre network currently pay from £27 per month on an 18-month term (£30 thereafter) for their unlimited 100Mbps package (includes a free install, symmetric speeds and a Wi-Fi 6 router), which rises to £58 (£65 thereafter) for 900Mbps (average).
