A group of Colorado newspapers, including the Colorado Sun and the Aspen Times, interviewed a significant number of unaffiliated voters in Rep. Lauren Boebert’s home district who would prefer to have a different member of Congress represent them.
The papers spoke with voters in her district before it was changed in June 2021, and this week they went back to see where the polarizing GOP lawmakers stand with her constituents now that she is running for re-election.
The feedback was mixed.
Marilyn Morris, 70, of Pueblo, claims that she supported Boebert in 2020 but has already cast her vote for Boebert’s Democratic opponent Adam Frisch in 2022.
I don’t like her conduct in Congress. That is disrespectful, and for that alone, I wouldn’t vote for her,” she stated.
“In 2020, Morris said Boebert seemed like the lesser of two evils,” the report adds. However, she dislikes Boebert’s two years spent in Washington.
Moreover, in the news:A GOP insider tells Republicans what to expect from Donald Trump over the next two years. Morris asserted, “She’s lying all the time, so I just don’t trust her.”
Richard Hirano, 59, of Craig, said he couldn’t remember if he had previously supported Boebert and is still unsure whether he will support her now.
“I could do without anyone now.He stated, “I don’t like either party, I think our freedoms are being attacked.”Boebert seems a little crazy to me.However, I do not believe the opposition party has any better choices.I just get sick of them fighting with each other.I just hope they do something good for our nation.
He continued, “I just think she’s sometimes off the deep end.”She seems to be attempting to convince us that religious belief must govern us.
The 30-year-old Durango resident Stephanie Cooper said she is conservative, but she doesn’t like the GOP legislator and may not vote.
“I just have the impression that she is more concerned with paying attention than she is with getting things done. And rather than actually meeting with her constituents or anyone who disagrees with her, she explained,I won’t be casting many votes for Republicans. There are other individuals and groups out there with whom I probably align more. And if I can’t decide between a Democrat and a Republican with whom I disagree, I won’t vote.
Anthony Medved, a Durango resident, considers the Republican legislator to be an embarrassment and describes her as a “terrible right-wing politician.”
He made the observation, “I think she cares more about her persona than she does actually making a difference in this world.”She must be relieved of her duties, and I will urge everyone I meet to vote against her and her radical ideas and actions.
