Usually when we see police officers driving down the street, we immediately think that something is wrong nearby.
But what would you think if you saw bunch of police cars and total of 18 police officers in front of your house — all at once? This actually happened in Missouri, and one teenager could not have been more surprised by the view.
Micah was barely 6 years old when his dad, Chad, collapsed and died while running in a Marathon back in 2007. At the time, Chad was just 35 years old, and he left behind a loving wife and three small children. He was working at the police department in his hometown.
Years later, when his son Micah was planning his high school graduation party, he decided to send an invitation to some of his father’s colleagues. Since his father couldn’t be there in person, Micah thought at least a few of his friends would make the day special.
And then, this happened: police car after police car arrived and parked all along both sides of the street in front of his house. A grand total of 18 police officers including the police chief came to the graduation party. Micah only expected one or two, and when he saw how many there actually were, he was shocked.
What he didn’t know was the the police chief was a very good friend of his father’s, and he actually helped organize the surprise. He told Micah and his family that he was honored to have worked with his dad. “You guys mean a lot to me and my family, so thank you,” the chief said.
All of the officers coming to the graduation party made it truly a moment to remember, and it could not have been a more perfect way to honor Micah’s late father.
