USPS is holding employment fairs across Colorado due to a lack of employees.

You may have noticed a delay in receiving your mail since the U.S. Postal Service is experiencing a personnel shortfall all around the country, including right here at home.

USPS reports that it is currently hiring 28,000 seasonal workers across the country.

Along with recruiting 1,000 more truck drivers, mail carriers, and processing team members, the Postal Service.

To encourage more people to apply, USPS conducted a hiring event on Saturday at the main post office in Evergreen.

They require more assistance than just temporary assistance, according to Morrison’s postmaster Shana Mansfield.

“With the help of our replacement carriers, we have offices that are 50% understaffed. recruiting mail carriers is kind of our current main focus, “She spoke.

Denver7 chatted with candidates who attended the hiring occasion.

Evergreen resident Bart McCalister claimed to be aware of how difficult it has been for USPS to fill positions. He added that his mail delivery has been delayed.

McCalister believed that working at the post office would be a chance to assist and earn some extra money.

“If I want to work less hours during the week, I can. I’m not looking to begin a new career. I only need a few hours. I thought it was a great part-time option, “said he.

The following USPS employment qualifications are listed:

• A high school graduation or the equivalent is required, or a minimum age of 18 at the time of appointment.
• Must be able to pass a drug test, physical examination, and criminal background check.
• Must be an American Samoan citizen, a permanent resident, or a citizen of another US territory.
• A recent employment history is required.
• Must have a history of safe driving (if applicable to the position).
