Waitress Who Is Seven Months Pregnant Receives A Generous Tip And A Sweet Note From A Policeman

While working her regular shift busing tables at a diner in New Jersey, a pregnant waitress ran into a police officer who wasn’t a regular patron. When he left, she discovered a heartfelt note on the table as well as a $100 tip.

People’s lives can change for the better when they receive kindness and appreciation from a total stranger, especially when they need a little boost to keep going.

Unknown to her but who ended up making a lasting impression on her, a pregnant woman was fortunate to receive her fair share of encouragement.

SUPPORTIVE WORK COLLEAGUES

Courtney English worked as a waitress at Lamp Post Diner in Clementon, New Jersey. She had been doing the job for nearly two years, with a few breaks in between.

While she had grown accustomed to being on her toes all the time, she had been feeling a little lethargic lately. English was pregnant with a baby due April 1, 2019, making work a little tiresome than usual.

Luckily, the mom-to-be had fantastic co-workers who ensured she didn’t lift heavy trays. They had even given her sections close to the kitchen, so she didn’t have to walk a lot while carrying heavy platters. She also had supportive bosses.

SAVING MONEY

English tried her best to greet every customer she met with a warm smile, despite carrying a baby in her belly. She was saving all the money she could to meet the expenses of having a child.

The Voorhees County Police Department confirmed that one of their officers had left English a tip, and he wished to stay anonymous.
The expecting waitress noticed an unfamiliar face amongst her regular customers one day. It was a local Voorhees County Policeman she had never served before.

A GENEROUS TIP

After having his food, he went to the counter, paid the bill, and left. When her work shift ended, English went to collect her tips. That was when she came across a note written on the officer’s receipt. It said:

“Enjoy your first. You will never forget it.”

Other than the incredibly kind and affectionate note, the policeman had also left her a $100 tip on a meal that was less than $9 in total.

HEARTWARMING REACTION

English was deeply moved by the sweet gesture of the kind stranger. She called her experience “wonderful, completely unexpected, and genuine.” Further, she added:

“Cops are portrayed as horrible people a lot of the time, and they aren’t, and this just goes to show that a young officer [saw] a struggling mother-to-be and wanted to extend a little help!”

To spread the word about the policeman’s kind gesture, English’s father, Brian Cadigan, took to Facebook and related the entire incident in a post, which went viral, amassing over 10K likes and 3.6K shares so far.

Cadigan shared how a negative stigma had developed about the police force in the society, where many people saw them as flawed and misusing their power. He then shed light on all the good things cops do that tend to go unnoticed. He also said:

“Most of the good stuff they do you will never hear about, they don’t do it for glory or recognition, they do it because they are good people. And I wrote this post to point out one such act (sic).”

The happy father then shared how a random police officer left a generous tip for his seven-month pregnant daughter from his hard-earned money.

Addressing him as “Mr. Police Officer, Cadigan thanked the cop for lifting his daughter’s spirits and for his utmost generosity, kindness, and the lovely note he left. He also wrote:

“Thank you, I always had the utmost respect for Officers, but you went above and beyond not just an officer, but a beautiful human being. God Bless (sic).”
